Almaty

Former Verny, then Alma-Ata, and now Almaty is the largest city of Kazakhstan, located in the South-East of the country. According to 2009 data, the population of the city exceeds 1,420,747 people. Theater named after Mukhtar Auezov

MEDEO

Residents of the Vernoye fortification grazed cattle in the Medeo tract at an altitude of about 1700 meters above sea level. This place got its name in memory of Medeo Pusurmanov, who lived here and did charity work. And the world-famous high-mountain skating rink Medeo was built in 1972 and many records were set on its ice. The skating rink is filled with clean water from a mountain river, and when the sun warms up, a thin layer of water forms on the surface, which makes sliding easy. Skating and speedway competitions are held here, mass skating is held in the evenings and on weekends.

Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen, Almaty
The Park named after 28 Panfilov Guardsmen is the most popular recreation park in Almaty. It was founded in the 70s. XIX century on the site of the village cemetery, therefore it was originally called Starokladbischensky Park. The park is a green area of 18 hectares, divided by smooth paths and alleys, where a mixed deciduous grove of perennial oaks, elms, aspens, maples, poplars, pines and firs grows.

Central State Museum, Almaty

KOK-TOBE

ASCENSION CATHEDRAL
In one of the main parks of Almaty, the park named after 28 heroes of Panfilov, there is one of the most unique cathedral buildings not only in Kazakhstan, but in the whole world. Ascension Cathedral is a wooden church 56 meters high.

Central mosque of Almaty city
