Trekking *Alpine Rose – Chukur – Big Almaty lake

• Big Almaty lake
The Big Almaty Lake is located in Zailiyskiy Alatau at an altitude of 2511 m above sea level, 15 km to the south from the center of Almaty. It was formed more than ten thousand years ago by a mountain collapse after an earthquake.
The picturesque road among the slopes of the Northern Tien Shan, covered with beautiful blue spruces, goes up like zigzags along the Bolshaya Almatinka river to the lake. The color of the water of the lake, formed by melting glaciers, changes surprisingly quickly from light green to bright blue. It depends on the light from the sun and fast-moving clouds.
